So the Mardi Gras week-ends are over.
We went to the Centaur, Gemini, and Highland parades. Centaur and Gemini; we got out there about 1 or 2pm, set up, ate, played with the kids, performed some 12oz curls, parade came by about 6 and ended about 9. First night (Centaur) I wasn’t feeling good at all. Second week-end (Saturday, 5th) (Gemini) it was just me and Becca until a neighborhood friend showed up. We had fun at both.
The Krewe of Highland parade was the best (always is). It was this past Sunday the 6th. We got to Walters about 930am and I brought mashed potatoes and pasta salad. Trey and Lisa were about 20 minutes behind us. Lots of food, friends, more 12oz curls, more fun. We passed out about 10 cases of water to the float people and parade walkers as they came back around at the end of it.
Something that night didn’t sit with me at all. I got home about 8, started feeling queasy and went to bed. Almost tossed my cookies twice but got to sleep quickly. Woke up at 6 for work this morning and felt great.
Anyway, no real pictures this year. I kept forgetting to grab the camera. Sorry.
February
So it's going to be the third month into 2011 soon and it's Mardi Gras here so now is as good a time as any to catch up.
I just tested for Master Sergeant on the 24th of Feb. I won't get the results until July/August time frame. When one makes Master Sergeant (after the fact) there are a few things that get looked at; Career College of the Air Force degree and "Course 14." Both are continued education and self improvement tools. The "CCAF" I accomplished a while back it's basically representative of continuing education; just means I've taken some some required college classes. It's like an associates in the civilian world but it's doesn't means squat outside of the military.

Snowy Day
For the second year in a row, we are getting snow. I was TDY last year at this time but now I'm here to see it! Blitzen, go figure, loves it!
I woke up this morning and turned on the news: schools are closed, fed buildings closed, base mission essential reporting only till 10. They pushed that to 2pm at 9:30. Then at noon, they told everyone to just stay home.
Videos here, pictures here.

Beccas Jag
I took Becca shopping for her "car" project at school yesterday. Her assignment was to find a car to purchase, given an estimate of all variables (assuming no other responsibilities); license fees, APR, income, maintenance, gas, and insurance. Then figure the loan amount, terms, and monthly payment. Want to hear something disgusting!? Given a part-time job at $7.25 an hour @ 20 hrs/wk. She could afford a 2003 Jaguar S-Type sports car and have it paid off by the time she graduates high school. IF it were to be purchased today under the "conditions" provided.Isn't that disgusting!? Here's the car for $9995.00. Absolutely pathetic. Little Brat...
